The East Bay Hungarian Educational Group is a non-profit organization established in May 2016 that operates a Hungarian School located in Walnut Creek, CA.

Our organization's primary mission is to provide cultural, educational and language development for children of Hungarian heritage. However, our current programs also include Hungarian classes for adults, as well as an array of extracurricular activities and family programs for the community.

    • San Francisco Bay Area Hungarian School

For the past few decades, our school has been successfully teaching children of the Hungarian community in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students are taught by qualified volunteer teachers who were trained in Hungary.

The goal of our school is to teach Hungarian literature and grammar, history and geography to Hungarian-speaking children who are members of the Hungarian Scout Troops of San Francisco.

We offer courses from kindergarten to secondary school for students between 4 to 14 years of age. At the age of 14 students take a rigorous final exam on Hungarian literature, grammar, history, and geography.

Classes are held every other Sunday afternoon, and are taught exclusively in Hungarian. Our mission is to instill in our students a love for the Hungarian cultural heritage, and to encourage them to pass it on to their own children.

Our goal is that our alumni will find their place in any Hungarian community around the world.
